12.10.03The Ethics of Whistleblowing
The Public Interest Disclosure Act is internationally recognised as a benchmark for public interest whistleblowing. It came into force in July 1999. The equivalent legislation in Northern Ireland is the Public Interest Disclosure Order which came into force in October 1999. There are similar laws in the US.
The organisation Public Concern at Work has useful information on whistleblowing and a list of do's and don'ts:

Use a whistleblowing procedure to pursue a personal grievance

Many business organisations will respond very differently to whistblowing activities than would a public body which is more accountable. In an effort to protect shareprices and market position you may expect them to play rough and not by any rules or laws.
It is therefore extremely important that if you intend to use a website to publicise your whistleblowing activities that it is totally anonymous.
10.09.03Whistleblowing & Other Reasons For Anonymity
If you host your weblog (blog) site on a subdomain at websanon.com this is what it will look like. You can update your site from any computer because it is web based (like hotmail) and is not dependent on software residing on your computer.
You simply log in to your site using a username and password and write up your entry. They are dated and timed but can be altered and you can even adjust the dates that you want the entries to appear under. When you have finished your entry simply click on 'Post Entry' and your site is immediately updated.
Another advantage is that you can easily upload and display jpeg pics from your computer simply by clicking on a couple of buttons. Couldn't be simpler.
So if you are running a 'whistleblowing' site you can easily display 'evidence'. You do not need computer 'wizard' skills to do any of this. If you can access the internet and if you can use simple wordprocessing software you can run and maintain a site like this.
It doesn't just have to be 'whistleblowing'. If you want a blog site that cannot be traced to you (as long as it isn't illegal) then this is the place for you. We don't ask for any details from you when you sign up, so we can't reveal anything to anyone if we don't know.
